Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use information for specifically the MTAA MedTech20 website and Webcast video service (“Platform”) and our compliance in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.

By using this Platform provided by the Medical Technology Association of Australia, (“MTAA”), you indicate that you agree to the collection and use of your information by MTAA as outlined in this Privacy Policy.

Why we collect information

MTAA collects information to improve the user experience provided before and during the MTAA MedTech20 conference with your contact information used in the Platform. We also use your information to measure our success and performance. For example, this data gives us an idea of the number of attendees who purchased registrations to a specific session.

Personal information collection and communication

MTAA is the sole owner of information collected on the Platform. Any personal information that is collected by us is provided by you strictly on a voluntary basis. Exception to this rule is Presenters and Advertisers (sponsor & exhibitors) information, where their information may be publicly available information.

The MTAA MedTech20 website Webcast video service will send you “Conference Emails”. These are notices about the conference including information on program sessions, sponsors, exhibitors, surveys, Q&A sessions and other messages which may be of interest you. The ability to send you Conference Emails is an important part of our ability to serve you as an attendee and will discontinue from 1 December 2020. Out of respect for your privacy, Conference Emails will be limited to 2 messages before and 1 message after the conference date (26-28 October 2020). The MTAA MedTech20 Webcast video service provides you the opportunity to opt-out of having your personally identifiable information used by notifying MTAA staff or changing your profile settings at any time.

Strictly no financial information is stored or requested to be stored on with MTAA data centres. 

Personal information you provide

As stated above, unless you voluntarily provide personal information on the MTAA MedTech20 or Webcast video service platform, we do not collect personal information from you with the exception of Presenters or Advertisers. Confirmed Presenters and Advertisers will have their name, title and place of employment publicly available on the MTAA MedTech20 website and Webcast video service platform. We will never combine any personal information about an attendee with any aggregate information we have in our CRM, MTAA.org.au website or other communication platforms. If you choose to provide personal information during registration, subscribed to our email communications, send emails to MTAA staff, or in any way communicate with MTAA where personal information is exchange, this information will not be added into the MTAA website or Webcast video service platform. 

Use and protection of personal information

MTAA will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in any way. 

Conference attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, presenters are only allowed to use personal information for the purposes of communicating during the conference or in relation to an activity at the conference.

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal processes.

Other Information we collect and use

We may collect non-personally identifiable information with cookies, device type, and pages you view. We also monitor submitted questions, surveys and any links you click. 

Aggregate information is monitor, analysed and combined with similar aggregate information of other users and will be collected on our Google Analytics platform.

We may share aggregate information with our business partners, Advertisers and other third parties. Such aggregate information is anonymous and does not identify any individual user, and we do not link this automatically collected data to personally identifiable information. Website cookies on the MTAA and MedTech20 website may be removed by following directions on your Internet browser’s “help” file. If you reject cookies, you may still use our conference Platform, with no effect on the video service. We use your website activity to assist us in offering you a personalised web experience, diagnose IT issues, assist with tailored content and event information, and for a better service by MTAA. This privacy statement covers the use of cookies on www.mtaa.org.au and www.medtech20.org.au only and does not cover the use of cookies by any Advertisers and third-party websites promoted on the MTAA MedTech20 website or Webcast video service platform.

Some of the websites and profiles provided link to third-party websites, such as those of our affiliates, organisation partners, advertisers, presenters and attendees social media profiles. We have no access to or control over their practices. Because MTAA does not control the information policies or practices of these third parties’ websites, you should review their respective privacy policies to learn more about how they collect and use personal information.

 

Security Information

MTAA stores all data using Invisage Pty Ltd’s industry-standard security servers. Firewalls and encryption protocols are used, to prevent unauthorised access to our data. Invisage Pty Ltd and MTAA have put in place reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures coupled with carefully developed security procedures to protect your information from unauthorised alteration.

We have put in place policies to restrict access to your information by our employees and contractors.

Misrepresentation and code of conduct

To impersonate any person or organisation, and/or their ownership or offering is deemed unethical. Reported cases are monitor by MTAA and will result in warning messages and deletion of your profile. Extreme circumstances may result in the departure of the individual from the conference, notification to employers and involvement of local law enforcement.

 

Protection for Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the legal age of 18. Notified profiles with under age persons will have their personal and aggregate information deleted.

 

Changes to this Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy may be subject to change. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will alert users with an email and other places we deem appropriate, so you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it. We reserve the right to modify this privacy statement at any time, so please review it frequently. Your continued use of the website and Platform after such changes have been posted indicates your consent and acceptance of such changes.
